In a word, the sound is CLEAR. I listened to a lot of headphones (within 20and Beats for 30k), since there is a store of one large network on Krasnye Vorota in the capital, where you can listen to any headphones on the stand without intrusive consultants. I don’t want the moderators to think that I’m advertising this store, I just haven’t really seen anything like this anywhere so that you can try any “ears” from your source and that no one is “over your soul”. In short, there is a difference between the M40x and M50x, you can hear it. There is a difference between MSR7 and M50x, here it is not so clearly audible. Subjectively, I liked the 50s more, and it's not about the price. They are somehow a little more bass (just a LITTLE, but in moderation). Comparable to the Bose SoundTrue Around-Ear, but still liked the 50s more (including the design). Sony MDR-1A are good, but they have a lot of bass. But, damn it, they bass beautifully! Not like the Beats! I, honestly, did not understand WHY they are asking for 30k for them !? (15k, 20k and 25k depending on the modification, which one is worse than the other). I understand design, show-off, etc. BUT, they are definitely not for connoisseurs of high-quality sound. Do not believe it - listen and compare with the same 50s or Sony MDR-1A! None of the Sennheisers presented there "stuck" (Momentums II and Urbanites). Everything else after 50x and MSR7-SLAG and stupidly pumping out the dough. I don't see any alternative for this price. Do not judge strictly for the review, if you offended any of the owners of the headphones with which you compared the ATH-50x, this is just my opinion. If you need exactly SOUND (and not show-offs and “pretty headphones”), then listen to 50x and MSR7 (and Sony 1A, who likes hypertrophied bass) and choose with your ears! Sound is a subjective matter, and everything is known in comparison. You can splurge on the surrounding bright design of the purchased headphones, but once you hear a truly high-quality sound, you will never be able to deceive your hearing! The source of the sound matters a lot! In my opinion, it is silly to choose headphones for such a price for “listening to FB rap” in mp3 format 128 kbps.
