This is a clever little gadget. His base is flush with the floor when he's not holding the door open. A magnetic lock is attached to the underside of the door. When the two pieces meet, the latch "grabs" the metal bar and keeps it attached until you pull the door. Now: a word of warning. Make sure your door and the floor are about 1.5 inches apart. If there is a wider gap between the bottom of the door, it won't work. You can still sweep, vacuum or go straight to the door. This is a great deal for 2 complete units. Note: 3M tapes are primarily for aligning these pieces. Use hardware to screw them on. The tape won't hold them in place while you're trying to use the hole.
