Excuse the pun but this rug is in bad taste (looks). When I ordered this rug I was expecting more of the matte faux leather material I've seen in big stores, something that will keep my stuff from sliding on a slippery dashboard. The 4 star rating is easy because the look of this gasket is plasticky and cheap. I don't drive luxury cars, but if I did I wouldn't put that on the dashboard because it detracts from the overall look of the car. The texture of the pad is smooth, glossy black, it looks like a sheet of fresh jelly, a quarter inch thick, glossy and black. It has no decorations or finishes and just appears to be stamped from a larger sheet. The company name is engraved in the corner. That's it, nothing special. Now for the good news, this carpet is sticky. Securely holds everything that is placed on it. I put it on the center console cover, I can put my sunglasses or phone on the cover and pick it up and things don't move. Now it's sticky. As others have pointed out, the cushion appears to be held in place by some sort of glue, but it isn't, and no marks are left on the items. It holds everything securely and works as advertised.
