Let's start with the fact that these things are GORGEOUS! Excellent workmanship and fit/finish. Now for the strength question. Many people have asked how much weight they can handle and how strong they are on knives. Well, the attached photo should explain everything. I bought 7 of the 20 inch units to display a historical collection of edged weapons. A German 7 pounder bastard sword connected to two strips of the knife, one near the hilt and the other further down the blade. Retention is excellent. I even went so far as to smash through the wall next to the display to see if I could. I was worried the magnets wouldn't be up to the task, but I was surprised. much stronger than drywall. Of course, the wall should be able to withstand everything the magnets can hold. Wow just wow.
