Check the roll suitable for electrical tape
I have 3 roles. 2/3 rolls were ok. One was broken. You can't tell unless you point it at the light. One was slightly transparent. This probably means it's not as heat resistant as the others, defeating the purpose of this tape. In the case of a defective device, it is not worth returning in view of the price. I would just avoid.
