Good product but you need a central hole

In general I am very satisfied with the product. I bought 2 and now our bikes are (finally) hanging on the garage wall. I liked the quality, weight and overall design as it has some nice features. Most importantly, it has good adjustability to fit both frames on our bike, which is saying something because my wife's frame is a thru frame with sharp corners and still adjusts well to it. And my big bike has very wide handlebars, which it accommodates for that too (adjustment away from the wall). Again I am very satisfied and it looks like it will hold up well. The downside and the reason I'm deducting a star is that the mount doesn't have a center hole. The 4 holes on the mount are meaningless if you want to insert a wooden bolt, because this is the only way to mount such a bike mount safely and effectively. Under no circumstances should the included plastic anchors be used for drywall mounting unless the bike weighs around 10 pounds (which is unlikely for an adult bike)! They also provide concrete anchors which should help in a log wall, but forget about attaching them to drywall (as others have pointed out) unless you want accident and chaos! So my solution was to drill holes in the center of the bracket and then I used the supplied tie bolts. I only used plastic anchors on the outer holes for a little extra support, but most of the weight comes from the center studs (again, through the holes I drilled). There's no way you could tilt the studs to hit the studs (1.5 inch wide). Another option is to use a pad that attaches to the stand.)

Pros
  • Practical thing
Cons
  • There are defects
