I'm a carpenter and carpenter. I keep this Starrett Rule in my pocket 24/7. The matte finish and crisp black markings make this ruler easy to read in any light. Ideal for setting up saws and other measuring machines in the 6 inch range where using a tape measure is always impractical at best. Also particularly helpful in my work is the fact that the blade is exactly 3/4 inch wide, the thickness of many finishers and carpenters. Finally, the 1/2 inch end scale, perpendicular to the blade length, is ideal for setting or checking depth of cut on routers, etc. I rely on this rule so much that I always have a spare in my tool box. Just in case I lose the first one.
