IMHO Starrett is worth a little more!

Starrett makes great products. I wanted a 3/4 inch wide ruler to complement my 45 year old 6 inch flexible ruler and this one is good. Super fast delivery.

Pros
  • ETCH NOT PRINTED: You can feel every graduation on this ruler as the markings are actually etched into the steel and not printed like other steel rulers; The scale is permanent and will not be erased if oil falls on it
Cons
  • The list will be long.

That's the best rule of steel.

This is an excellent steel ruler. I've been using it almost every day for over a year. Expensive but worth it. It's spring, so it won't deform over time. The machine-engraved lines and numbers are very precise and easy to read. The satin finish is a big upgrade in terms of visibility from my previous size guide. Oh, and it's made in the USA.

Pros
  • The end of the release of the 32s; Both ends, one side
Cons
  • There are flaws

If you know Starrett, you know that scale is the real deal.

I have used these scales/rulers extensively in the aviation world. This is one of the first tools I pull out of my toolbox almost every time. And since they're 3/4 inch wide, that's a big plus for many layouts that require near-edge tolerances. This is a scale that, with proper care, will last a lifetime. A small amount of oil or wax will keep them from rusting in foam tool boxes. I cannot recommend them enough. Tell your friends, family, maybe even your spouse. They too will learn to love how…

Quality and Accuracy

This line was purchased to replace my old Starrett line that was lost. I've looked everywhere for this old rule, 3 or 4 times, and ordered a new one as soon as I resigned myself to the fact that it no longer existed. Don't do a lot of marking work, but typically use an edge gauge to position the router tool over the workpiece and use stepped handwheels to move the table/workpiece as needed. Check the position of the tool before starting tool operation. With a little care, this tool will last…

Most Useful and Readable Ruler: A must for precision work

I'm a carpenter and carpenter. I keep this Starrett Rule in my pocket 24/7. The matte finish and crisp black markings make this ruler easy to read in any light. Ideal for setting up saws and other measuring machines in the 6 inch range where using a tape measure is always impractical at best. Also particularly helpful in my work is the fact that the blade is exactly 3/4 inch wide, the thickness of many finishers and carpenters. Finally, the 1/2 inch end scale, perpendicular to the blade length,

Pros
  • PREMIUM METAL RULER: Made of stiff, spring-tempered steel, this 6-inch ruler is chrome-plated and used for precise measurements; It comes with a plastic case to protect it in the tool chest or tool bag
Cons
  • Available in white only

My Grandpa's Era Quality

Why pay triple (or more) what this 6" line has to offer compared to other models? Because this is the last line you'll ever buy .The rule is like the same rule my grandfather used in his shop in Starrett, didn't skimp on quality so it's probably the same price (adjusted for inflation) as it was when he got his! There are 4 scales: 1 /8 , 1/16, and on the reverse 1/32 and 1/64 These last scales are "quick to read" because they are marked to tell you how many 1/32" and 1/ 64" you have. The "zero…

An excellent rule with a design flaw.

I bought 4 of the most popular 6 inch rulers so you don't have to! This review focuses on the Starrett, but other models are mentioned for comparison. Speaking of comparison, let's start by listing the models and their weights: Starrett C604RE = 23g Mitutoyo 182-105 = 27g Shinwa H-3412A = 18g Shinwa 3001A = 18g The Starrett is significantly heavier and thicker than the Shinwa Rules. It feels about the same thickness as Mitutoyo. As mentioned, the graduation font is larger and much easier to…
