I did a lot of research on the different straws I could take to restaurants to avoid buying plastic straws that are harmful to the environment. I decided I wanted glass straws made in the USA. Then I found Hummingbird glass straws - both straight and curved - made in the USA and got a lot of great reviews and they turned out to be just what I wanted. I chose curved straws, which I really like. I had some questions and emailed the company and their customer service was top notch as they responded quickly to all my emails and answered all of my many questions. The glass ends are smooth and rounded unlike some other sharp edged straws I've seen and each straw is handcrafted which is unique these days when so many items are mass produced. They say the glass straws are unbreakable and I'm told they have a lifetime guarantee. They also include a small brush in case it ever gets stuck, which I think is rare. There are a few cheaper glass straws out there, but I find Hummingbird's price point reasonable for handcrafted, unbreakable glass straws that are made in the USA with excellent customer service and a lifetime guarantee. I first bought 9" x 9.5mm curved glass straws and found them good for smoothies etc. At first I thought the 9.5mm straws were too big for things like iced tea and fizzy drinks so I also bought 9 x 7mm curved glass straws perfect for iced tea, lemonade etc. Haven't tried them in smoothies, having used 9.5mm and 7mm straws with iced tea I've found that both work equally well for iced tea, lemonade etc. I also find that the 9" length is perfect for standard height glasses and even a Starbucks Frappuccino. I bought it. Overall I am very happy with these straws and highly recommend them. Otherwise I would have did not order a second set.
