Review on πŸ”ͺ Powerful Precision: Blackwing White Long Point Sharpener Ensures Crisp Pencil Tips by Shantel Griffin

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Don't waste your money

I use a variety of small sharpeners with Blackwing pencils. One I bought at a bookstore for a few dollars (pictured right) worked well enough, but I decided to splurge on this Blackwing. Can't believe I paid $19 for this (now $23 for Revain). But the very expensive Blackwing Palomino pencils were worth it. I thought a very expensive sharpener would be the same. Not correct. This is appropriate at best. It has to be better than $5, right? Not quite. In terms of sharpening they are about the same, in fact I prefer the tip sharpness to the cheaper one. The BW is easier to empty thanks to the hinged lid, but holds less, so you have to empty it more often. BW comes with 2 spare blades, which is good in terms of extending product life / reducing plastic waste. However, the price difference is not worth it. While writing this review I picked up the old one to compare and I think I'll admit I made a huge mistake and threw my Blackwing away.
