We found a little painted turtle and of course my fiancé had to bring it home. Knowing nothing about turtles, I had to do a little research. Although he will eventually need a full tank, this small terrarium works well enough. It can be filled with just enough water for our little turtle to swim and we've added aquarium pebbles as well as plants that she likes to sleep on and larger rocks for her to bask on under UV lights. It's very easy to clean. I bought the "low-level" filter recommended for this and the only way to get the filter to work was to tilt it forward a bit, but that's actually how it works. Keep in mind that the ultraviolet light, which is also recommended, not only burned out, but also melted in a little over a month. I would look for a different light if I were to buy this one. Would totally recommend this for a small tortoise.
