I make homemade wine and my friend asked me for some wine and gave me these two Ikeas bottles. I've used Rotary Type Grolsch bottles in the past with no problems. These are new bottles and may work well with thick liquids but not wine or other non-viscous liquids. The pressure is very weak. So I added my wine and noticed that the aroma was coming out of the bottle, that was the first sign the bottle was leaking. As I had two I decided to fill another as it was possible maybe only one bottle was bad. The same thing happened. I then decided to turn the bottles upside down and within an hour water was dripping out of both. Finally I sealed the bottles with wax and gave them to my friend, telling her that the sealing of the bottle was not optimal. My Grolsch-style brew bottles shouldn't leak any flavor after capping, and they shouldn't leak even when the bottle is upside down. So it may be better to use a different brand to brew if tightness is important. I would not try this brand for home brewing due to the carbonation dissipating due to leakage.
