The Edge 530 is a very good GPS bike computer. It does everything I expected it to do and it does it better than any of its predecessors. Reading other reviews it seems that there are buyers who do not understand what they are buying. This computer: 1) Consumer electronics device. This means it's not perfect and requires updates. 2) Fancy bike computer. There are no two ways! It's not the top of the Garmin line, but it's much more than a speedometer. I don't have any bad details, so I'll get to the good ones: 1) Very good battery life. My Edge 520 lasted 7-8 hours (GPS, power meter, heart rate, cadence, etc.). The 530 ran for over 12 hours on the STP (Seattle to Portland) and had 38% battery remaining at the end of its charge. 2) Good communication. No problems connecting to heart rate, electricity meter, phone, speed sensor, etc. 3) Cards out of the box. On the Edge 520, I no longer had to load maps of the area. Everything is built in. 4) No touch screen. For me this is a good moment. The interface is very similar to 520. Good for me! 5) GLONASS - added accuracy 6) Strava segment improvements. Not for everyone, but it handles selected segments very well (compares them to COM, PB, last best, last time, best friends). The ability to program your own screens isn't new, but it's a very nice feature. This brings the possibilities to a new level. It's part of Connect IQ, which allows you to download custom data fields/screens and let your device work for you.
