All-round dense, thick foam offers solid protection, nose and mouth feel secure behind all that thick padding. When you compete in Masters your choice of headgear is pretty limited, but this option seems very safe, it just takes a while to get it right. The headgear needs a break, leather and foam are very hard. and the first time you put it on it's really uncomfortable. I had to put it on a soccer ball for a few days to make the shape more natural. The chin strap is also pushed far forward so you don't have to worry about it choking you, but it's not very secure. The top has a single velcro adjustment which is fine (laces are better) but after a lot of trial and error the top can be adjusted. The back adjustment is a big thick velcro. Doesn't hold up as well as shoelaces though.
