Great hook knife

Comfortable to hold and operate. The steel is excellent and holds an edge well. The ash wood handle is strong and big, but not too big. The knife arrived well sharpened. It is important to use a well-sharpened hook knife. I use a dowel bar with very fine sandpaper (1000) to sharpen, then apply honing paste to a separate 3/4" dowel bar. Beginners should check out many books or websites that explain how to use a hook knife. One thing that what I and some of my woodworking friends do with hook knives is to blunt the tip itself, as that tip is never going to be used for our purposes.
