High Performance Stant 10231 Radiator Cap - Vented (16 PSI) Review

This lasted about 2 weeks before it stopped holding pressure and started leaking. The part is too cheap to go through the hassle of sending it back. Get one at your local parts store for an additional $1-2 so warranty is easy. It gets 2 stars because I bought a few and the rest have held up well.

It's almost a good idea to buy this before your old cap dies. Mine was leaking so I ordered these and quickly replaced them. The old one was probably original and 20 years old. Much easier to turn on and off the new version as the old one was in bad shape. Just hard and old and was a lot harder to take off.

This stant cap is not a full pressure cap. This is "partial pressure". The vacuum relief valve will remain open until the coolant begins to boil. The whole point of a sealed lid in a cooling system is to prevent water from boiling in the first place. This cap won't do it because it won't pressurize the cooling system.

When I took it out of the box it seemed a little flimsy and the cap clearly says 'Made in Mexico' but after replacing my original radiator cap with this one, he was perfect A dense filling formed, which worried me at first. I recommend this for people who need quality parts in a pinch without spending a fortune.

This is a radiator cap. There isn't much more to say here. I have a coolant leak problem. There is no leak but when the engine is warm I can smell coolant in the engine bay. I thought the bearing cover is 18 years old, let's buy a new one. The old one may open at a higher pressure than recommended. That got me on this path. I can't tell yet if this is the end of it all.

I installed a new engine and radiator in my '90 Chevy K2500 and found it cheap not to put a new cap on the new radiator. I recently bought an '01 Grand Prix and this cap will fit him too so I just bought another one. In all the years of repairing myself, I don't think I've had a stant failure. This Stant 10231 16 PSI Positive Pressure Vent Radiator Cap. very well done. It fits my 1994 Chevy S10 4.3LI radiator. I use a standard fan with 160 degrees water temperature.
