I feel like I got my money's worth. The sharpness of the image startled me, and that's a good thing. Despite what I had read in the reviews, the picture is perfectly clear and crisp. The situation is excellent. When the camera is set at 1.5 meters away, the resulting "widescreen" image is as comfortable to look at as a 47-inch TV monitor, making Skype calls between groups of four or five people a breeze. Before the replacement, there was a regular camera that cost around a thousand dollars, so my contacts were surprised by the drastic improvement in sound and visual quality. My Internet's outgoing speed of around 800 kbit/sec is sufficient because DSL, with its reduced outgoing channel, is an asynchronous technology. The camera is "friendly" with Skype and uses hardware encoding for its video. My needs were completely satisfied by the transaction.
