It works and it's fun. But you need a splitter.

Everything worked fine for me. Since some people are having trouble setting up the unit, I didn't unfold the LEDs and attach them to the back of the TV as the instructions recommend. I left the LEDs coiled up and tested them that way first. This meant that if I couldn't get it to work I wouldn't have to remove the LEDs from the back of the TV. But it worked! I had to download an app that isn't the prettiest or most intuitive, but with a small focus on everything related to it. I was really surprised by all the "talk" from Chinese hackers, I just entered a name and password and granted access to my WiFi, did I just let a botnet in? Just to feel a little better I used a custom username and password, I didn't use a google or amazon login. So that was my security concession. I have an Eero v6 router and it should dynamically switch between 5Ghz and 2.4Ghz as I didn't do any settings on the box, it just connected to my wifi and worked. As others have pointed out, the device only has HDMI 1.4 and does not support the latest picture formats. So I'm waiting for my HDMI splitter. This is a bit annoying because it also needs electricity. Now I have more cords dangling from my TV hanging on the wall. I tested it with 1.4 and for a few days the lower image quality didn't bother me. Also note that the Apple TV remote does not support volume control with this box. I'm assuming that with the splitter, the volume control on the Apple TV remote will return. In summary the product is like a prototype, you need a splitter and you end up with more cables around the TV especially when it is wall mounted. But it works. I giggled like a little kid when I saw him in action. It adds another dimension to television. I checked out Philips Hue, it seems more advanced, but for $500+ I wouldn't spend that much. But you can imagine that the Phillips product is less likely to get security issues and supports 2.0 out of the box, so there are fewer cables hanging around. I could buy it if it was half the price. I hope Light MI improves their product but as they are still selling HDMI 1.4 in a 2.0 world I wouldn't bet on it.
