Play around with the sound settings before cutting out the "port " as most have done. you can't get it back
If you have an older car with a thinner metal door these are a must. I didn't cut any holes as many people claim it has to be done to sound good. They minimized the "muffled throw" in the midrange and made the low frequencies clear and tight. With my 6.5" components the sound is more car focused and definitely an improvement. They also help prevent excessive mid-bass deflection on low notes and door metal rattle.
