hard, works best with ball joint and tie rod tools
Please note that this type of tool usually damages rubber boots on tie rods and ball joints. There is another, more expensive tool for splitting without damage. I made a replacement so I didn't care if the boots were damaged. This tool is a good weight, feels solid, and gets the job done quickly for a reasonable price.
