Difficult stuff, but good qualities if you can make it work.

I hope you already know this, but you must use ABS thread ventilation. Complex material, it warps like crazy if you don't have a full body. You might be able to do individual small parts on an open frame printer, but there's plenty of heartbreak waiting for you. Still, cool stuff if you can print it in a toasted case. Strong and slightly flexible, the B in ABS stands for the butyl element, the rubber gives it a unique quality and impact resistance. It sands well, paint adheres well, and ABS cement to ABS is the strongest bond you can get with 3D printed parts because it's a solvent and fuses two parts into one. good luck with "ABS juice" (plastic thread and acetone) on glass at 100C bed temp. The ABS juice forms an odd, shiny, sometimes papery layer of film on the underside that I often have to tap off with sandpaper.

Pros
  • Filament diameter 1.75mm (dimensional accuracy +/- 0.05mm)
Cons
  • Questionable purchase for the elderly
