The big hooks at the end are a nice size but a bit slippery, although the hooks go up and down which is a big bonus. It's stiff enough to easily extend 8 feet without bending over, and the numbers are on either side of the band so it's easy to measure under things, too. Fractions are also printed on one side. If you're unfamiliar with the metric system, SOL, but for me I often use whatever is more convenient (50 cm is always better than 19 7/16 inches). Sliding back and forth is a nice feeling. I can't say anything about durability in general. I hope that if they take care of the mechanism as carefully as they do everything else, it will last a long time. good in my pocket but not a full replacement for my 6" FatMax which lasted 5 years in my pocket and is used often because it's small and durable. But Kutir is more useful. Bonus items in the box were a pair of 10- Plastic foot elastics which are useful and easier to roll up than the fabric ones I had oh I do maintenance, construction, plumbing, electrical to make them work.
