Much better than a smartphone

Our son went into the army so we traveled a lot, attended graduations, generally rescued him from base etc. We used our phones to navigate. What a pain in the neck. So I finally broke down and bought a GPS. I'm glad I did. I chose six inches. Five inch screens are pretty small while seven inch screens are huge. Six inches is easy to see but doesn't take up too much space. 66 is easy to use. Plug it in, walk past the lawyer screen, press the button and type in the address you want to go to too. You are already on your way. Navigation is pretty good, and if you choose a different route, the device will recalculate at its leisure. I love the turn-by-turn warnings, lane assignments, and the fact that they show me gas and food along the way. It is supposed to show the restrooms but we were told there is no restroom between the house and San Diego along US 395. That is not true. The device has memory. You turn it off to gas or eat, it remembers where you're going and turn it back on. It remembers the places you've been before about your home and has the ability to save favourites. The traffic function was useless for most of our trip. We need radio stations to broadcast information, but they're not available along 395. Surprise ;) But as soon as we got to San Bernadino, the traffic jam got in the way. It was pretty accurate. I'm not sure if the device will move through traffic, but it's just nice to know what's going to happen and how long it's going to take. I'll delve into all of the features over time, but just basic navigation is worth it. It's much better than using a smartphone. No data usage, bigger screen, better navigation etc. I wish I had bought something like this a long time ago.

Pros
  • Worth the money
Cons
  • Hard to say
