Review on Extra-Wide Soft Nylon TIDI Posey Transfer Belt - Black With Green Economy Model - Washable Walking & Gait Transfer Belt For Nurses, Therapists & Home Care Caregivers (6537Q) by Janice Velasquez

Might work for some, but not for me.

I am a 5'4" woman who is 130 lb. and I'm wheelchair bound. My caregivers use a gait belt constantly to move me around, particularly to get me in and out of bed, and also in and out of My wheelchair. This belt is sturdy and wide, obviously designed for someone larger than me. At its smallest adjustment, it was still loose around my waist, making it unsafe to use when transferring me. Also, the loops of fabric on the sides and back designed to use as handles we're useless for the purpose of transferring me, since they were not in a good position. Moreover, the loops in the back made it very difficult to get the belt on and off me when I was actually sitting in my wheelchair, when a gaitbelt has to be positioned around my waist in back up against the back of the wheelchair, and then fastened in the front. This belt looks like it would work well to help the man actually walking or on his feet. But it was not helpful for me.

Pros
  • Mobility & Daily Living Aids
Cons
  • May not provide enough stability for patients with balance issues
