I raise poultry as a hobby and have new chicks all the time. I used to use 250w incandescent bulbs but I was afraid they would glow. I live in a very hot climate; I couldn't justify using them and the extreme heat was stressing the chickens. I've tried different wattage lizard bulbs from the pet store, but they rarely last even a week. I saw the same ceramic pears at a pet store but three times the price so I ordered them here. Initially these bulbs were great, they didn't emit any light and got very hot at night, just what I was looking for. I went out and bought new lamp holders in case my old ones burned my bulbs. No, a little over a month later they die. And I just finished the return/replacement window. Unfortunately, I really wanted to like them, but they didn't last for me. I'm not sure if I got a bad batch or what but I most likely won't be ordering them again.
