Surveillance hard drive is completely dead after 10 months of use (writing). It only uses a small part of the hard drive. My CCTV system can no longer recognize the hard drive (beeping). Both of my computers don't see the hard drive at all. Manufacturer WD replaces the hard drive. WD asked me to return the damaged hard drive. I am very concerned about privacy. WD does not follow the industry standard for handling user data. The only way to ensure user data safety is to physically destroy the hard drive by crushing it to dust. Erase, overwrite (repeatedly overwrite), decrypt is not the industry standard for handling user data on an old hard drive! Most HD manufacturers restore the HD. This is bad practice. Experts can easily restore old data.
