Easy to install and effective

Overall I found it easy to install and easier to use. My dog learned very quickly and hasn't run out of the yard yet. This system is a consumer version of the "Invisible Fence" brand installed by professionals and dealers, owned by the same company. So, in essence, you get a professional fence with the same characteristics as the DIY ones. First the installation: I have to admit I was a little intimidated at the thought of installing this fence, but it turned out to be a lot easier. than i expected. I used my trimmer's Power Edger attachment to dig a "trench," which was supposed to be just a 2 inch gap in the ground. (Good excuse to buy one if you don't already have one). Then the fixed wire is simply buried in the trench. I gently pushed it in with a small piece of wood and then you close the ditch with a few good hits on the lawn. A few weeks later and you can't even see him. I've seen that I recommend using a shovel, but I think it's going to take a really long time for most people. The method I used worked great and you can rent the equipment if you need it. The access road was just as easy. I used a masonry blade on your saw with skill and place the wire in the trench and then fill it with caulk. Cheap blades work great and are around $15 at any hardware store. It took about 10 minutes to cut through about 30 feet. Wire about ten feet more than I need, and then twisted the wire with a drill. The way the system works is that the twisted pair cable doesn't give a signal, so in most cases you'll need it to connect to your house. In general, the installation took about 3 hours. If I have to blame this system for anything, it's the length of the cable. I really could have used another 100 feet to cover my half acre lot and had to buy more at the hardware store. Operation and functions: The system is just as easy to operate. It works in Yard Max or Traditional mode. The main difference between these two settings is that in Yard Max mode the collar will start correcting after you have crossed the wire, while in traditional mode it will start correcting when you approach the wire to 1.5 to 3 m approach. signal strength. I personally prefer using Yard Max - it's easy and maximizes garden space. It also has a feature where the collar corrects for a full 15 seconds when crossing the wire when exiting the yard, but does not correct when coming back into the yard. The collar in this system is rechargeable - and the charge lasts a long time. . I haven't had to charge for over a month which makes it very convenient. The collar is also compatible with other PetSafe barrier products. I have a small one to keep my dog off the counter and it was a huge bonus that this collar worked straight away - no setup required. Conclusion - this is a great product and I can only recommend it.
