Review on ๐Ÿ”ง Soldering Kit: Advanced Temperature Control for Desoldering Electronics by Edwin Cen

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Soldering iron only gets hot 20%

Disclaimer: I am new to soldering and have only worked with a few irons. However, I don't think it takes expertise to identify the obvious flaws in this product. CONS: The soldering iron will only melt the solder if it comes into contact with it at a certain angle. This means you have to clumsily twist and turn the wire iron until you get the working angle. Even though my solder is supposed to melt at 220ยฐC, this iron needs to be heated to at least 400ยฐC for it to show any signs of melting. Attempting to solder with a soldering iron set at 220C will do absolutely nothing to the solder. However, once the iron was turned on, it was warm enough to melt the solder with ease. Lots of reviews say "you get what you pay for" but little did I know it was about to malfunction. The hardware is buggy for the most part, and the temperature control is practically pointless. PROS+ recommendation However, after a grueling and lengthy struggle with this tool, I ended up soldering the board. So it can get the job done, albeit probably at about half the speed of more powerful hardware. I would not recommend this to friends especially beginners as this product can cause them to neglect soldering for weeks. I know what it is for me.

Pros
  • Very good price
Cons
  • Price that beats the piggy bank
