This is my second Hoover Linx. I had an older model and it just recently broke after 3 years of daily use. I find it durable for a vacuum of this size and price. I bought this vacuum because I have a labrador retriever who sheds a lot and also a little one who likes to make a mess and I want to keep our floors clean. While I have a large canister vacuum that works well, I wanted something that I could very quickly and easily walk around the house or use for a little cleaning. That was the perfect solution for me. It has enough battery power to do the basic level of my house (Cape Cod) and then a little more when fully charged. I also like that the battery doesn't start draining when it's empty - it just stops when it's empty. It only takes a few hours to fully charge. It picks up my dog's hair and pretty much everything else very well, both on low-pile carpets and hard floors. This was my first battery powered vacuum and I was very surprised at how well it worked. I have to occasionally clean the brush (a must on any vacuum if anyone has long hair around the house) and I've changed the air filter a couple of times - they're good value. After accidentally sucking on something larger, I had to unclog it (which was pretty easy), but that could happen with any boner. Even after 3 years, the battery life has only slightly decreased. This new model is a little heavier than the first, but not enough to be a problem. I can still easily carry it up and down stairs (and I'm not very strong). The wheelbase differs slightly from the first model, making for a smoother curve. I've been told it has a little more power and seems to suck better, but I'm not sure if I'm noticing that because it's new or actually made for better suction. Even if you have any problems, Hoover's customer service is excellent. You get a real, real person on the phone with minimal wait time. If you are looking for a comfortable vacuum cleaner for everyday use or quick cleaning, THIS is your choice.
