It's been a year since I bought the MK808BT and I have to say it's kind of on the border between good and not. Full disclaimer that I am in no way a professional mechanic. I'm more of an enthusiast so keep that in mind for this review. What I like about the MK808BT is that software updates over the year have somewhat improved the performance of this tool (increased its speed, etc.). It's still pretty slow with communication, but things have improved a bit and new vehicle support is added from time to time (although updates seem to be a long time coming). While you can probably read codes from any vehicle and get special features for many makes and models (many I haven't even heard of here in the US); You won't even get special feature support for something as common as the 99-04 Jeep Grand Cherokee. I found this odd since they have support for same generation Wranglers (and I was even able to do Grand Cherokee key programming with the Wrangler). features so you can still do certain things if you're willing to take that risk) What I don't like is that the marketing of this tool seems to exaggerate its capabilities when it comes to two-way communication. They make you think you get these advertised features on all supported vehicles, but in my experience they are quite limited on many vehicles (even if that vehicle can run that feature on a more advanced tool). For example, modern day Toyotas like Camry and Highlander are supported by this tool but basically I get "feature is not supported by this vehicle" even though it should work. I hope future updates will fix a lot of this. Updates do happen and you get a year free with purchase, but they're not as frequent as you'd like. As my free year is about to expire, I'm not sure if the current refresh rate justifies a paid subscription. On vehicles like the Ford, the features seem to work much better. on any vehicle. Is it worth the price? I don't really feel like it was like that. It's more efficient than any scanner I've ever had, even with misleading marketing, but I expected the marketing to be price accurate. instead of Launch X431 SUMMARY PROS: - Great code reader for reading codes and viewing live data - Bluetooth connection to vehicle is handy - Some special features can be useful - Good build quality MINUS - Misleading features - Slow communication with vehicle (although admittedly getting better with updates) - some normal cars are not supported - slow update releases - bi-directional functions are very limited on many cars - overpriced, even with an artificial "discount" from MSRP
