I have bought two of these and am generally happy with them them . A warning though. The bearing that comes with this strut is a piece of plastic so cheaply made it's ridiculous. Do as I do and apparently most people do and buy a 1000-pound 12-inch Lazy Susan bearing to replace it. Note, however, that this bearing is not a direct replacement for the original. You need to drill your own holes to install the metal bearing. but the result is so much stronger and more durable that there is nothing quite like it. I didn't track the build time but maybe it took 2 1/2 to 3 hours for the 1st block. The instructions aren't really clear and you need to look at them a bit to get started, plus modifications to use a metal bearing. I bought two of these shelves, so after making the first one, I assembled the second one the next morning. The second took no more than 1 1/2 hours from start to finish. The stand is solid and holds far more DVDs than I ever dreamed of. I thought I had enough to fill two of these completely, but they used up my entire collection and left a lot of empty space. Love the organized look of all my categorized movies and old TV shows - very happy with this product! A tip for correctly aligning the parts is, tighten the screws only after you have roughly assembled the parts. Leave each screw one to two turns away from "Full Tight" as you screw it in. so all parts can move and align until all sides and base are together. Particle board also separates easily if you over-tighten the screws, so take it easy.
