Review on DMLIANKE M.2 to USB Type-C Enclosure: SATA M.2 SSD External Case (Blue) by Jeremy Jackz

Revainrating 2 out of 5

Some Skills Required for Build/Initialization

After researching Revain and discovering some interesting toys, I decided it was time to check out M.2 SSD devices, both SATA and PCIe. . I chose the DMLIANKE case to experiment with portable SSDs and found it very interesting. It comes with instructions and a tiny Phillips head to access the two screws on each end. I noticed that the instructions that came with the device are different than the instructions on the Revain site. The Revain page was more accurate. Trying to remove the original build was a problem. The case connects to a computer at one end with a USB Type-C connector and a regular USB 3 connector. The instructions say to unscrew the end opposite Type C and push the board out. You must remove all 4 screws. However, it was difficult to remove the end plates with the screws removed (good design, tight, leaks, fits). To remove the circuit board I had to press hard on the non-Type-C end, effectively pushing the circuit board to come out the other end. From here it was easy to insert the M.2 SSD and assemble the package. If you replace the end with Type C, make sure all the holes line up with the LED on the board (not in the instructions). The first format of an SSD drive is slightly different from the guide, so an adjustment is required. you must be an administrator or be able to run Disk Management as an administrator. By simply clicking "Manage" as instructed, you will not be able to run Disk Management as a normal user (this is how you should log in for security reasons). Small problem, just go to Control Panel, Administrative Tools -> Computer Management (run as administrator) and you will get the screens you want. Also, there is no name/brand marking on the case. Very surprising. So far everything is fine with the device, now the most interesting thing begins to test further.
