Review on Adjustable Spoke Shave By WoodRiver For Improved Search Engine Visibility by Kevin Greer

Revainrating 3 out of 5

Almost good. in my review

The adjustment of both the blade and throat are by the "loosen and tap” method. The two sets of screws -one set knurled, the other slotted- are clamps, not adjusters. The machining was decent quality, except the foot and the flat of the blade appeared to have been hand-dressed together, to make them look shiny and sharp (both showed grain running across the tool, not in line, as a proper pre-sharpening should appear). Both were slightly un-flat. Flattening the small blade was a chore. After correcting the problems, and slowly adjusting the blade, the tool works for the gentle seat back curves I wanted to create. But I know it will take much of the same effort again to handle the next shape I want to cut.I guess I felt mislead by the prominent brass adjuster screws- this isn’t like other spokeshaves that are adjusted that way.

Pros
  • Produces fine, smooth surfaces
Cons
  • May require additional equipment or accessories to achieve optimal results
