Bad product at best.

I am extremely disappointed in these rations. After years of being absolutely spoiled by Mountain House, I decided to try them because they were on sale. 104 servings I thought at $88 it's cheaper, looks good and hey it comes in a box to use whenever I'm done. First the packaging. The packaging of these dishes is absolutely terrible. This is a faux aluminum foil material that has been used in MREs in the US for years and is hated by everyone. I haven't even eaten a bag of food in 20 minutes and I just shake my head. Compared to the Mountain House rations I get, where each individual meal is packaged in a resealable package that is clearly and color-coded with nutritional information on each ration, those packages are garbage. The only identification you get is a small printed label for anything that isn't an entree; and about 75% of the package are NOT main dishes. These packs are just awful, especially after what I've had in the past. It's not the 70's anymore, wise, nobody's impressed with foil packaging anymore. Second food. The food is terrible. About 75% of them are not only just not entrees (instead, accessories have been designed to enhance wild-cooked or pre-packaged dishes), entrees just taste terrible. Mine were only made in 2017 and were stale and tasteless. I had to break open my homemade ration packs just to sprinkle salt and pepper on them because literally none of that is part of the meal. Instead, you're allowed to enjoy things like dried strawberries and "butter sauce," which is more like liquefying cardboard than butter. To be honest, I'd be a lot better off cooking my own food with what I had lying around from the '80s and '90s era MRE bags and Mountain House. Then at least I would have something like a full meal. Third, ease of use. I can't believe these packages went through any kind of quality control. God, half of them require you to pour boiling water - the bags aren't even thick enough to protect your hands while the food cooks, and most of the water is CRAZY turned off, making for an odd stew. What the hell did you save even trying to open the pockets? Compare that to Mountain House, which has a quick-burst lid, resealable and thick bottom packaging, and frankly you just have to wonder why these two products are even remotely priced the same. Maybe I was spoiled by the US. Nutritional supplements from MRE and Mountain House. Maybe over the years I expected a better product for its price and this time I just managed to cheat. And, you know, I have to give them credit: These meals are TECHNICALLY a meal. I have to give two stars for this as some of these products are of little use in combination with things I have already bought. But I would never spend my money on this set again when Mountain House offers a much better product for about the same price. I'll never know which bully invented this "survival kit" but I wish him all the best in life. God bless him/her as it proves that you don't need to know anything about squats to work for Wise.
