Different carbide types and grades can make a world of difference in metalworking, but in my experience any old carbide will cut wood fairly well. At least at the production level of the home workshop. At $12 for four, these beats are a great deal. They are similar in quality to the ones you can buy at your local hardware store but are a lot cheaper.
