The main reason I bought this item is the spring loaded "arm" that allows me to tear off one sheet at a time. Maybe I didn't mount it that way or the spring is very tight because it doesn't "give" at all. When I put on a new paper towel roll, I have to tear off a sheet of paper with both hands because the "hand" is tight on the roll and doesn't let it spin easily. If at least half of the roll is left, the "hand" doesn't even adjust to the paper roll. I still have to use two hands to tear off the sheet.
