I bought this a few months ago after the original broke after years of use. It took about an hour to replace the broken cable, about half of that time was spent on the head. After doing it once, I could do it again in half an hour. It took me a while to realize that there are two screws under the battery compartment. 1) Remove the cover. 2) Lift the fuel tank to the side. 3) Remove the battery box. 4) Remove the three black screws holding the belt guard. 5) Turn the mower on its side and remove the blade and final screw holding the cover in place. 6) Remove the sheath, fiddle with it until you pull it out. 7) Remove the nut and washer from the nylon block holding the cable and remove it from the cable. 8) Remove the cable. Everything fits together the way it was. I greased the cable prior to installation. I think due to the lack of lubrication, the original cable is defective. I photographed everything while disassembling it, glad I did. Since this part is exactly the same as the one I removed, I have no reason to believe it won't last ten years or more.
