Review on πŸ–₯️ Samsung DVD-VR300 DVD Recorder VHS Player Combo by Edwin Cen

Revainrating 4 out of 5

Very good!

I bought this unit to salvage data from my TiVo and to copy some old VHS tapes to DVD. So far, so good! I've made about 20 DVDs. The only problem I had was when I was trying to copy a movie from VHS to DVD (this movie isn't out on DVD yet) and I couldn't copy it because it's copyrighted. I really wanted to make a DVD out of it since it's no longer available. Another nice touch is the DV input on the front. I have a Canon Mini DV camcorder and was able to transfer video directly from the camcorder to DVD with no problem. The front panel also has a full range of AV inputs. Very handy for temporarily hooking up an old camcorder or (sigh!) Beta VCR! Yes, I have LOTS of beta tapes that I want to convert to DVD. The menu is much more convenient than on my parents' DVD burner. I didn't really need to read the instructions. but worth reading. There are several useful features: pressing REC once starts recording, pressing it again starts the recording timer. Each time you press REC, 30 minutes are added. This is a good feature for unattended recording. In addition, most functions can be conveniently accessed via the remote control without having to call up the menu. including burning speed (quality) and one-touch dubbing from DVD-VHS or VHS-DVD. Another nice touch is the clock. Most DVD players don't have a clock on the display, but this one does (it needs to know the time for the timer to record). Also, my TV is Samsung. The remote also controls your TV (and other brands). There's even a dedicated TV power button. Very handy for reducing the number of remotes needed to turn everything on and off. All the DVD-Rs I use are Verbatim brand and I've had no problems with them.
