It definitely works, I get tree roots breaking through and blocking my outer tubes resulting in a water reserve. That's what the plumber used when they first came out so I just bought one for double the price when it came out. I'll make good use of it but getting it down the drain was a pain trying to twist it because the hole was quite small. And when it's time to retract, it won't happen if you pull it all the way out. You must disassemble the block and manually retract it. Just a big pain in one. The plumber who came complained about the same thing when I asked him about this device, but despite that annoying feature, it definitely does the job.
