Almost high level in my rating.

I bought this LG 48GQ900-B 48-inch Ultragear OLED Gaming Monitor to fix an issue with my neighboring LG C2s, using one as a monitor and the other as a TV. The problem with using two C2s is that they both act like twins when trying to turn one on and off. Also, when you use the C2 as a monitor, it doesn't turn on automatically when you turn on the PC. You have to use the remote control to turn it on. Also, I couldn't get the C2 monitor to run at 120Hz, so I bought the 48-inch Ultragear because it has a DisplayPort that allows me to set it to 120Hz. Replacing the C2 monitor with an Ultragear monitor fixed these issues; However, this also introduced some issues that I didn't experience when using the C2 as a monitor. Given these new challenges, I don't know which is better for the monitor, the LG 48" C2 or the LG 48" Ultragear. My biggest issue with the Ultragear is that it doesn't have an HDMI eARC port to connect to my high-end sound system. I don't understand how LG thinks here, because in my opinion, if buyers can afford a high-end gaming monitor, they can also afford a high-end sound system. Following that logic certainly warrants the addition of an HDMI eARC port. I think it's a missed home run by LG. Bluetooth and optical connections don't come close to the audio quality you get from HDMI eARC 48 Gbps. Now my high quality sound card and sound system are practically useless. I would also like to see a DisplayPort 2.0 connector instead of DisplayPort 1.4. Unfortunately, LG creates such an advanced image and software, and then installs low bandwidth and outdated connectors. I wish they would put the same connectors on the Ultragear as they did on the C2 and add DisplayPort 2.0. Now that I have an Ultragear alongside the C2, I've noticed that the C2 has a much brighter screen than the Ultragear, although I still like the Ultragear's screen quality. A few other things are the bulky Ultragears remote control, which looks like a kid's toy from the 1980s. The bottom of the monitor is so close to the table that you can't put a center speaker or soundbar in front of it without obscuring the menu view. It would be great to have adjustable screen height for Ultragear and C2. These are some of the features I would normally expect from a high-end company like LG. I wish they would add features to live up to the Ultragear name and charge a little more when needed. I think people would certainly be willing to pay a little more to future-proof their purchase.

Pros
  • Built-in speakers
Cons
  • Low refresh rate: When the monitor refresh rate is too low, motion may appear blurry or slow.
