I've used the SportDog 850 collar for many years and it works with no problems. This was bought as I needed a little more power at range for the new pup that we will be bringing despite longer field trials and I wanted to make sure I could control her when she comes out to 500-700 yards. was just over 850 for both the controller and the collar. But not as big as Dogtra or Garmin. I ordered all three and the two I really liked were this one and the Garmin Pro 550. The Dogtra Edge RT was good but I didn't like the controller. It had hard edges in your palm when you held it. Whereby the Garmin was very comfortable and smooth as well as grippy. The two main reasons I chose the SportDog were my experience with the 850 I had and the Garmin reviews which didn't suggest it was well made and had issues. I also like the smaller controller than Garmin or Dogtra. I really like the size of the 850 controller and receiver when we're not hunting or training. When we go to dinner or to the park, it's nice and small and easy to put in your pocket.
