My wife and I have an escort speed camera in every car and although I have a Passport Max she has a 9500ix. Both rearview mirrors are mounted with BlendMounts. We've wanted dash cams for a long time, but we didn't like dash cams with suction cup mounts and cables dangling everywhere. These M1s integrate best with radar detectors as they have 'pass through' power but are expensive for what you get. If you're looking for a more feature-rich dashcam (GPS, telemetry, etc.), skip this one. But if you're looking for integration with your escort radar detector, I think you can't beat them. I was willing to pay a little more for integration and a clean setup, and didn't need the extra bells and whistles other vendors offer. Camera shots are pretty good to me, although night vision could be a bit better. I had been tracking the price of these for a while, and when they went on sale at a $30 discount I decided to take the plunge. They're easy to install on BlendMount and you can get the M1 Mount Kit add-on for around $5 from their website. Super clean on Passport Max. Now with the 9500ix it's a different story. When you go to the product page on the manufacturer's website, you are told that the M1 is not compatible with the 9500ix and several other older models. We're quite happy with the 9500ix, so there's no reason for us to upgrade. It was a pretty popular model a few years ago and I think a lot of people still have it. Heck, you can still buy them on Revain or Escort's website. As far as I can tell, the only reason they are "incompatible" is because the 9500ix's power connector is on the left side of the radar detector. while all new models have them on the right side. Escort restricted the M1 to the right side of the radar detector because the power cord is ridiculously short (2 inches). Now this could easily be remedied if they made the cord a bit longer or maybe included an extra extension cord. They are clearly trying to get people with old radar detectors to spend more money and upgrade to a newer, nicer model. To get around the M1 short cable limitation, I found a short RJ12 extender that works well with the M1 and 9500ix. Added some photos of the build. If you find yourself in a similar situation and don't want to buy a new expensive Escort radar detector, just get a short extension cord like I did. Find an "RJ12 jack-to-male" cable (or RJ11, either will work) on Revain. If you know how to use a crimping tool, you could probably make your own extension cord out of old phone wires.
