This is the best car charger I have ever tried, actually my second charger. The phone is firmly connected to the charger, and the charger is firmly connected to the car. I use an adhesive mount in one car and an air vent mount in another and both work well. The vent mount will loosen up after a few days of riding, but that's okay, just tighten the knob a little and you're good to go. I didn't like the extension piece, it makes the mount on the vent mount unstable due to the phone's weight being too far from the attachment point. This may or may not work with an adhesive mount. I recommend just removing this part, the mount works great without it.
