Satisfactory product quality, good price.

The firmware from the factory is CV11, but on 01/05/2022 a new firmware CV12 was released The firmware is ated not by a semi-automatic device, but by "hands". We open the page , enter the serial number of the disk (on the disk label or programmatically, for example, in CrystalDiskInfo) and in response we will receive offer to download the archive for ating the firmware (screenshot attached). Despite the fact that "v11" is written, CV12 is downloaded ( Skyhawk-V11-3TB-6TB-SATA-CV12. Zip ). Well, here it is. These 111 MB are downloading slowly (it took 12 minutes). The under windows looks something like this: 0. unpack, run thecommand line "as administrator", go to the directory with the unpacked archive 1. First of all, we get information about what and where is available, along the way we remember the value of "Handle": "command line tools\SeaChest\SeaChest_Firmware_270_11923_64. Exe" -s In response, we get something like this: Vendor Handle Model Number Serial Number FwRev SATA PD1 ST3000VX009-2AY10G xxxxxxxX CV11 ! We remember the value of "Handle", which in my case was this: PD1 (line above) 2. Upload the firmware, specifying the "Handle" value (which was obtained in the previous step): "command line tools\SeaChest>SeaChest_Firmware_270_11923_64. Exe" -d PD1 -downloadMode deferred -downloadFW "firmware\V11Skyhawk-3TB-SATA-STD-ALL-CV12. LOD" 3. Make the new firmware active by specifying the "Handle" value (which was obtained in the first step). "command line tools\SeaChest>SeaChest_Firmware_270_11923_64. Exe" -d PD1 -activateFW In response we get this: Firmware activation successful New firmware version is CV12 Everything. The upgrade process is not very difficult, but not the most pleasant either. SeaChest_RC_2.8.0_06-25-2022. UsbBootMaker. Exe as part of the archive is a utility for creating a bootable USB flash drive with Linux. There is no GUI in this SeaChest-Linux, so the upgrade process is the same as above (except for "downloadMode deferred"). Therefore, I preferred to windows.

Pros
  • Not noisy, not hot.
Cons
  • ating the firmware is not the most pleasant experience (details in the comments).
