Review on πŸ”‹ OptiMATE TEST: 12V Battery State, Cranking & Alternator Performance Analyzer - TS-121 by Edward Freeland

Great tool! good for diagnostic, testing and measuring tools

Almost no car today is equipped with a voltmeter that continuously measures the battery voltage. Digital voltage indicators are available as an option and are easy to install. But even if you have an aftermarket digital voltmeter, they only retain their readings for the display update time, which is a mere fraction of a second. Since the lowest starting voltage occurs very quickly, the digital voltage display cannot reliably detect and hold the lowest voltage the way the Optimate does. THIS IS THE BEST LOW COST INSTRUMENT FOR READING LINE VOLTAGE. A thousand dollar digital storage oscilloscope would be better. but you can't throw any of them in a motorcycle hard case for portable use. Use this tool to check quiescent, cranking and charging voltages from time to time, enter them in your logbook and this ONE TOOL will give you an overview of the condition of your motorcycle battery, alternator and starter motor. When he shows that everything is okay, it gives you peace of mind. When it indicates your battery, alternator, and starter are low or dead, it pays for itself by telling you where to troubleshoot the problem. This tool is recommended by Tracey Martin in his book Motorcycle Electrical Systems. BTW I have a 5 year old Shorai lithium battery in my bike and it works great with it. My open circuit voltage is green (about 13.4 volts) (lithium is higher than lead acid), my alternator output is green (14.1 volts) and my cranking voltage is 8 volts. in yellow. But everything else is fine, the bike starts well so I'm not worried.
