Review on Shure WH20TQG Dynamic Headset Microphone by Carlos Macy

I do not agree. About Wireless Microphones and Systems

I have serious criticism for reviewers who say the product is not for them and not for everyone. I play drums in a classic rock band and cajon and percussion in a small trio. I also set up and commissioned the sound system of both outfits. Tired of being tied to a mic and a boom in both situations, I settled on the Shure WH20XLR. Firstly, the included cable is not intended to be connected directly to a mixer or amplifier. It can be routed and clipped to a belt or pocket where a standard XLR cable attaches. The microphone pigtail is not designed for connection to a mixer. I thread the cord under my shirt, wrap a belt loop around it, and plug in the mixer cord. Problem solved. I installed an XLR connector with a built-in rotary switch on the microphone cable to mute the microphone. It's a dynamic microphone! Without phantom power and battery. This is a full size XLR connector. There are other versions for wireless and computer use (the last 3 letters in the model indicate which is which.) When connected to a mixer or speaker system, the sound level is more than adequate. I don't know of any low to high impedance adapter for a guitar amp or other Hi-Z inputs. It works great with our Behringer blender. Just turn up the gain a little. Having used the SM58 and SM57 for many years, I can say that this mic has only a small notch in the middle and a small boost in the bass. Everything is as clean as in SM, and no problems with grandstands and bars. I've used it for numerous shows and it was a bit uncomfortable at first, but once the fit is right it goes away. This mic is about $10 cheaper than the switchless version of the SM58, so not much cheaper, just different technology. I love it, both bands love it and the audience loves it. I wouldn't record with it, but I would still use a condenser on a stand or tuning rod. I hate when good products are thrown away because people don't read or research the descriptions. It might not be for everyone, so there is a choice. And reviews that make it clear that the reviewer has no idea what they are doing are the worst. When used as directed, this is a great choice for musicians who want to get away from their mic stand, as well as drummers or KB players who want to go without a mic stand. I don't need wifi so this wired version is perfect. My text messages and microphone stands stay at home. Any device can fail or fail during use. It doesn't make it trash. Electronics only. It's amazing how some people love the mic and use it with no problems while others can't get it to work or sound good. I prefer Zildjian Sabian or Paiste cymbals, but I don't throw away these quality products. I'm doing companies a favor and not buying them. I highly recommend this microphone. That worked great for me.
