There is NO shame in the Chinese espresso game!

I was a bit skeptical. This Chinese-made piece should sit alongside the Elektra Microcasa a leva – you know, that big copper and brass monster, a combination of Steampunk and Belle Epoque – on the kitchen table in my mid-century modern home. A tricky order to navigate this mix of styles - and for the price, my questions were quality. I didn't have to worry. When I took the mugs to the kitchen to wash my hands, I noticed their pristine whiteness, smooth edges with no chips or imperfections, absolute perfection of workmanship. No flaws in the wafer-thin pottery or glaze were visible in the sun - and they're translucent where they should be. (You don't need a huge mass of stones in your espresso cup; the large mass of stones absorbs all the heat and the espresso will go cold and rancid before it hits your lips. These cups are lightweight and expertly crafted. And they're identical, to the eye and to the touch, very necessary if they are to be stacked Matching saucers are also suitable Demitasse spoons are not embossed and I don't think they are 18/8, if you want their chrome shine to last unscratched and unetched I would recommend hand washing and using dry with a damp cloth. They aren't particularly smooth either - but who puts a spoonful of Demi-Tasse in their mouth? Terrible. This set is great and if it was made in Europe e.g. by Gevalia, Illy or some other name, you know, it would be worth ten times as much. You don't have to worry about embarrassment with your espresso game if you choose this great set!
