I think form is more important than function in this case. The hooks are very nice, but the stems are short and the metal isn't as smooth as I'd like. The crochet hook I used (5mm, H) did NOT hook into the acrylic yarn I'm working with, but it doesn't go through the yarn and loops as smoothly as the BeCraftee crochet hook (a set that only comes in a plastic box is delivered). ) or other metal crochet hooks, hooks like Clover Soft Touch, Susan Bates Silvalume and so on. Haven't used any of the other hooks before but the 5mm/H hook from this set is the bulkiest I have, with the exception of the two aluminum pony hooks which are the simplest, cheapest, colorless gray hooks. Maybe I'll try another set of colored hooks with ergonomic handles.
