I compared it with a good quality spirit level and a spirit level in a large box. After I calibrated it, it worked about as well as it did at the big box level. It's not as good at leveling as a high level because it wanders around 0 and makes it difficult to locate a dead level. I've also found that the LCD screen is almost always in the wrong place when pumping (it would be more convenient to have one on the side and one on the spine). A lack of support is a decisive factor: If you cannot read the LCD from the side, you cannot operate it. It turns out this is more common in everyday life than I thought. All in all, it's a good tool for the homeowner for casual informal leveling, but it doesn't make for a professional tool kit.
