. The situation is very simple. When my modem is plugged directly into my laptop it works almost 100% of the time. When I connect it to the KR1 router it freezes every few minutes. In this case there is neither a connection nor an IP address on the "Status" page. This hang up happens until I unplug my router, or sometimes after 5-10 minutes, it clears up. It just can't be used that way. Kyocera replaced the router under warranty and the problem is exactly the same. I updated the firmware on both routers. This issue was escalated to D-Link Support and was unable to resolve the issue. Now they are trying to get me another router model to fix this problem. The U720 modem is new so hopefully they will fix the bugs but I wanted to make sure this information is available to other buyers. Both Kyocera and Verizon assured me that the two devices were compatible before I bought them. I now have a contract with Verizon with no working router and I wouldn't do it knowing about the situation.
